With a data rate of 1.5 Mbps and capacity of 16 Gb per cartridge (3 MB/second and 32 Gb per cartridge with data compaction), the #6383 provides a growth path for the large number of iSeries and AS/400e servers that use QIC tape technology for save/restore.
